PROFILE DESIGN
We use a CAD programme to match ANY sample that is brought to us, we then can provide you with in depth CAD drawing to your specifications, we can even change any dimensions if that is what you require, and we keep a record of these for future reference. From the drawing, we then turn this into a template, which is made out of plastic to help keep the cost down. This will then be cut out on a CNC. This ensures that all templates are made with precision. GRINDING From the CNC, the template is “knocked out” on a state of the art grinding setup, which provides the tooling to machine your sample to the exact match. We have employees with over 30 years plus of knocking out tooling, which ensures a very high quality of work is provided.
TOOL MEASURING/MACHINE SET UP
We use precise measuring equipment called an OptiControl to measure all our tooling. This sends measured data of the tooling block to a programme that calculates measurements for the machining parameters and stores it all in a database. We then set up a machining programme on the same software containing all the tooling blocks to run specific set ups, with over 800+ programmes already in our system from door casings, skirting, arcs, dado or even planed all round (PAR) timber. Some of these are allocated to specific customers, so if in the future they would want a re-run a specific profile, we don’t have to keep repeating the same programme setup process. With a quick search, your profile measurements and drawing can easily be found.
MACHINING
With all the tooling measured and programmed set, we then select the program we want to run on the machines computer. This sends data to dials on the machine, which tells you what measurements to wind certain blocks to. Overall, the machine has 6 cutting heads to clear off material to produce any sample you would like. Sizes ranging from 305mm wide to as narrow as 7mm wide with a maximum thickness of 120 and a minimum thickness of 7mm. 6 cutting heads ensure that we can give you a “glass” like finish every time.
